I have abandoned this book - I found it very disjointed and hard to follow. This was not a lack of ability to understand a scholarly approach, but seemed more like the author could not pull a cognizant theme through the work and also seemed to completely avoid the faith and religious elements of the work, which is impossible to do if you are going to do Dante Justice.

Starting the new year nice and easy with something that's been on my shelf for a while. As a long time fan of the Divine Comedy and Harriet Rubin's The Princessa, I hope this exploration of the impact of Dante's work satisfies.
