Continuing to read, but I find myself skipping over sections. I loved the part about the types of vampires in different mythologies, but the long discussions about different vampire movies aren't catching my attention, for example.

Sad that the author, in the chapter on literature goes for the movie version of why Louis became a vampire & not the book version. That was one of the things that bothered me the most about the movie. It was his religious brother that died. Louis didn't have a wife & child. Even a look on Wikipedia would show you the real synopsis of the book.

Kind of a reference book on vampires. I'm on the 6th chapter. It has chapters on vampiric type legends from different cultures, everything from Romanian to Japanese to Norse mythology. It has a chapter on the ways they feed, the ways they are made, bands that have songs about vampires. I'm using it as reference for my own writing & am finding it quite useful so far.

"Until the groups can learn to tolerate each other, it's doubtful they'll be able to gain society's acceptance."
I enjoy vamp. romance & fantasy books as much as the next guy. But, this takes it to a level I hope we never except in day to day society. It is called fantasy & fiction for a reason!!

Ch. 28- pretty sick stuff on clubs & events, ch. 29 turns into a diatribe about the "community" of real vampires. Yes, they really want to have "willing" donors & feel a compulision to suck your blood. The whole book leads up to what feels like almost a religious track for vampires. The last line of the book in all sincerity talking about the in-fighting of different vampire lifestyles...

Ch. 26 info. on The Highgate Vampire was interesting as I have just recently read "Her Fearful Symmetry" by Audrey Niffenegger which is based in Highgate Cemetery & briefly mentions the tale of the vampire.

Ch. 8 YA Literature Chapter starts with Twilight and ends with Vampire Diaries. You might find something that sparks your intrest to read in between. Twihards will not like ode to Bella and Edward.

Probably can skim Chapter 6- unless you really wanted to know there was a song in 1962 that is 22 mins. long based on the drummers hairdressers dream about Marilyn Monroe being a vampire. That type of thing. I can't imagine even Dracula would be intrigued.
