Matilda must have been a very popular name back then. Because why is a character in this book also named Matilda? Not mad about it, it's a pretty good name ofc 🙂‍↕️

my favorite part of reading classic literature is when it surprises me with just how true to life it is. this IS how people behave. this IS how people think. anne (& emily) writes this so well. the people, their lives, their problems, their speech and language and feelings and ambitions and interactions are so movingly real it hits me square in the chest.
