Notes:
(1) Probably the most notable thing about this volume is how much more polished R.M. Guéra's art is.
- Not that it's necessarily better, but it looks decidedly less indie.
(2) Pretty much this whole arc is about women considering, very nearly having, and actually going through with, abortions.
- We get several flashbacks to mothers of main characters dealing with it.

Notes:
(1) The middle two issues tell the backstories of Dashiell's father Wade and Carol's mother Claudine, the two parents we've not seen yet (outside of Wade snorting drugs in a flashback cameo).
- We also get the origins of the names "Dashiell" and "Carol."
(2) I'm surprised, though it does make perfect sense, how socially conservative these traditional communities are.

Notes:
(1) The first three issues here are more short stories about people I don't really care about. Shunka I care about a little bit, I guess.
- That's not to say they aren't good. The first one is actually very good, but it's also a total one-off and entirely skippable.
(2) As much as I enjoyed these, they're very one-note and the points they make are laid on real thick.

(1) As much as I enjoy this series and feel it's been expertly done, it's never hit the sweet spot for me.
- Nearly all of it's been deep dives into character histories and fleshing out personalities and mentalities, albeit without much plot.
- Conversely, last volume was entirely plot-driven, but without the usual introspection and symbolism.
- I want a mix of both.
