Finished on Homo Floresensis yesterday evening. Perhaps an ancestor of an isolated group of Homo Erectus that remained on the island of Flores and had island dwarfism. Evolution is just fascinating.

Finished on Homo Erectus and Homo Ergaster, with Homo Erectus being around between 1.8 million to 120,000 years ago! And Homo Ergaster predating 1.8 million. Pretty cool that some theories suggest that Homo Habilis is a direct ancestor of these guys and that potentially Homo Floresiensis could be an evolved Homo Erectus group with island dwarfism! Pretty cool.

Homo habilis… highly debated but shows distinct elements of bipedalism closer to humans in contrast with Australopithecus species. But then they changed the genus of ‘Homo’ to categorise this find which is sus. Especially when they didn’t standardise brain size relative to size and mass. I see Homo Habilis pop up a lot in our evolutionary tree even though we are uncertain of where it belongs.

I've been watching a lot of Stefan Milo alongside this book and the more I read the more I feel we have been taking a lot of what has been discovered as fact instead of a theory. With new species emerging, such as Homo Luzoensis, it could very well be that they are Denovisans. Also that we take as fact that we evolved from knuckle walkers when we cannot prove that this is the case.

Absolutely amazing images and drawings. I've read other books on human history, and this book really brings a lot of things together.
