Learned all about the other side of the rosewater family, and new characters have been introduced. The only other “good” character is brought up here… Harry the fisherman… reminds me a lot of too have and have not right now, with a chapter of rich yachtsmen watching a manly fisherman work for his catch. Funny how both Vonnegut and Hemingway idolize this archetypal man.

Quickly read chapter 7, starting to look up a little more, I like how Eliot’s wife isn’t actually crazy, and is showing that she actually cares for the people in the rosewater too. I’m starting to see how the dark stuff in this book is actually the satire and comedy. Some of the actual nice message of the book is starting to come through

So far it’s good, a little less cynical now that we can actually see some of the good the main character is doing. A lot of the insanity claims I think are supposed to be satire, because the main character just wants to be charitable.
