The historical tidbits are great: you actually learn a good deal about the time period. And the humor just puts a goofy smile on my face.

At the beginning I noticed the sentence structure is basic and I thought- maybe these books are juvenile after all, and don't hold up. But by page 40, I was engrossed, and the humor and banter is so good. And the plot moves right along. Now I remember why this series is a favorite.🥰

Rereading one of the favorite series of my teenage years to see whether it holds up to more mature scrutiny.

I fear I’m about to cry from laughter. This book has two of the most dumb characters in existence… they’re hilarious.
