First impressions: I believe this book will stand easily against Orwell for social commentary and analysis. Jeanette writes in so much prose poetry though, I’ve fallen in love already.
Excited to meet the other characters of Picasso and Sappho after the conflicted cerebral catholic surgeon. 😉

Two words: didactic and indulgent. I want to love Jeanette Winterson SO badly, and I did enjoy this book but it was a little too conceptual so much so I struggled to follow exactly what was happening. An interesting collective view of the value (lack of) an artless society, essentially critiquing modern capitalist London through a postmodern literary lense. A lot of nakedness but beautiful language nonetheless.

I'm enjoying this. It's meditative. I'm trying to look up the things I don't know e.g who is Prometheus. I got stuck on a big passage of Latin near the start, so had to just move on
