Status Updates From Washington: A Life

Chapter 2. Already so interesting!

Started this as the audio book while on vacation. Should have started it sooner and listened longer during our drives, the story is very good thus far. There are a few clips that highlight the 'passion' of George (not graphic) during his young adulthood, so perhaps NOT the best biography for the younger crowd who might be ready for the vocabulary and bulk of the book.

“He also wanted America to function as the promised land for the world’s downtrodden: ‘Rather than quarrel about territory, let the poor, the needy, and oppressed of the earth… resort to the fertile plains of our western country, to the second land of promise, an there dwell in peace, fulfilling the first and great commandment.’”
