Vicenza isn't being honest with certain people in her life at her new school. Her life is now changing and her luck begins to change for the good.

person vs self - Vicenza is trying to make friends at a new school and her education is taking her to a higher class so she has to leave the only friend she made. The other conflict is she is lying to her friend from her home country about her life in her new home.

Fresh off the Boat takes place in San Francisco in 2000. My favorite scene so far is when Vicenza meets Isobel because it's the first friend she made since she moved to San Francisco.
