Continues to be one of the most challenging of the books I've read by Gregory because of the subject matter - slavery, as we all can agree, was a brutal trade and far from 'A Respectable Trade'

I’m on the fence as to whether or not I’ll DNF. The violence, especially against slave women, is brutal and it may be too much in my face…typical great writing though

This is a tough book to read based on the topic and treatment of the slave trade but it's another 'WOW' by Philippa Gregory. Amazing historical fiction.
