This book really reminds you of the past and helps you make inferences about the past as well. It gives you great detail about the past and how it was that it makes you think if it can all come back to the near future..

My opinion of this part so far is that I think people have been exaggerating about the Mexicans. Saying they are bad people because Mexicans are recognized from drugs and being illegal. Which, in my opinion I think is dumb many other races do drugs , others get arrested so now we're all criminals ?

I decided to read 20 min today and one of the characters on the book reminds me of myself because he started to defend himself and didn't care what other had to say about the words he used and the way he defended himself.

The part that really caught my attention was how they use marijuana signs and it reminded me of how kids that smoke now use it as a symbol for almost anything.

This story teaches me that people will always judge you by its cover.. I say it teaches me this because Americans looked at Mexicans as Drug dealers but, we are not drug dealers , we are not criminals etc. Its not good to just give ONE look to someone and instantly put a sign of who you THINK they are.

The character el Flaco reminds me so much of my brother because he presented himself as his Actual name very calmly but, then he said his nickname is Flaco and the way he said it said a lot about his personality.

I think the relationship between the americans and
Mexicans is interesting because they hate the Mexicans but, use them to pass illegal items, build buildings for them, and work for them and dislike them? it doesn't make any sense at all.. Not only does it harm some Mexicans while they try to pass the illegal items but, if it harms one person it harms the family too.

I think of myself as the character which is a random guy that showed up and thought people in Mexico were treated wrong and that the Americans treated them wrong and would use Mexicans to do illegal stuff for them. I think of myself as that man because he requested that they secured the borders to keep Mexico a safe place and to protect others families from being in danger .

I would change how it started with Mexicans staying in Mexico. Maybe, I would start it off with them in the united states to see if they would get treated a lot better because People might think they stay in a nice house since, they stay in the united states or if they get treated even worst because they are Mexican living in a better environment .

I infer that Due to the race of others people seem to find that its okay to hurt the Mexican. Hector was attacked and didn't fight back. The Mexican's think that if they don't fight back they wont be un liked. Which is a sad thing... If you are attacked then you have the right to defend yourself. I believe that just because you have a different color skin doesn't mean you cant do what others do.

I think that next the Mexicans will not only be accused of doing drugs but, of being one of the reasons why most relationships that include having a partner that is Mexican don't stay healthy.By that I mean that the relationship doesn't last, the reason why the relationship has problems, etc. It explains how one man has a girlfriend but, he doesn't love her.Meanwhile, she is madly in love with him.

I decided to read this book because the title seemed interesting. While reading it just to find out if its something I would read I noticed that I enjoy reading this book. This book has so many amazing and realistic events in writing about how it was back then. It includes the borders, racism, and everything else we still struggle with now a days. This book is amazing.

I just now started reading this book and what I can now tell about the peoples personalities is that they care. One of the characters said he wants to work on the border to protect not only Mexico, but the families. Another personality I did catch was the drug dealers. They have no heart at all. Shooting a poor man that couldn't open the pumps to a gas station.
