Status Updates From Het begin van de zomer

This was my favorite book as a teen. I haven’t read it since then. Bringing back all the feels already! It’s making me so happy to reconnect with it all this time later.

This reminds me so much of Ramona. Except Cress is older. The dialogue is so delightful.

I picked up an old college anthology in the 60’s (it was published in the mid fifties) called “Reading for Writers”. A Cress Delahanty story was among the selections. At barely a 13 year old, I liked it then and always remembered it. Last summer w/ my son, we visited a used bookstore in Catskill, NY and I found a 1956 copy of the entire book (a collection of short stories of Cress’ maturity from 12 to 16)
