Status Updates From The Best of E. E. "Doc" Smith

I truly love anthologies and/or multi-book sets or even a really long story that requires 7-15 books to complete. This book is a series of. Short stories and and short novellas.

The elements of "space opera" are quite fun and one can see clearly Star Wars' roots which have translated so well. Not as well but still there is the brilliant scientist man-of-action. Dex from Sky Captain is a good modern manifestation but I note that Sky Captain is by its nature anachronistic. However, by far the most out-dated element of these stories to my ear are the gender relations.
