This author is able to gain credibility by quoting many famous authors and philosophers whose ideas were popular at that time. It allows the book to not just be the author looking back at history but also explain how people felt at that time. An interesting example of this was the book ABC for Baby Patriots which has "C is for colonies" (Pagden 136). This shows that people wanted to teach kids about colonies.

Something that I found interesting that I didn't know before was that Burke disliked English imperialism in India because he feared it would make the Neglish government tyrannical.
