Fun fact for the day: Slogan actually derives from the Gaelic "sluagh-ghairm", meaning a host-shout, and originally meant a warcry (often a personal name or hometown) shouted by Scottish Highlanders or Native Irish. The juxtaposition with its current meaning (a catchphrase, generally for commercial promotion) makes me feel as though modernity has neutered our language, or maybe made it less human.
