Issue 3, and the 1st problem: Nottingham looks too much like Jackie SHOULD look. I can tell it's going to be tricky telling them apart at times. And I just don't have the same kind of history with Aphrodite's bearers as I do with Sara, Jackie, Tom and co. Am I supposed to care about Gloriana, Fin, et al, or be torn between the factions? Because I don't, and I'm not. In closing: TILLY! Guys, Tilly's back!

Issue 2 keeps the plot rolling while bringing Dani and Jackie on board. It's nice to see the paternal side of Jackie, and that he still hasn't lost his edge because of it. I really hope this continues to be as solid once all the lesser artifact bearers (IE, the ones I really don't GaF about) are woven into the story. If this stayed about Jackie, Sara, Tom, Dani and Nottingham I'd be the happiest reader ever.

From the opening with Sara being a badass to the tragic final pages, Artifacts 1 is one of the strongest single issues Top Cow has put out in years. Also, it's wonderful to see Tom Judge make his return to the 'verse, and (surprising) to see the Darklings and Angelus's host working towards a common goal.
