I just learned about the second half of the French Revolution. It seemed that most of it was simply the revolutionists trying to stop the counter-revolutionists. It was really just a series of terrors trying to rid of it, especially with the executions. It also makes sense then why in the end, Napoleon was able to make himself dictator.
