I suspect that this is one of the weaker GMF books, but I feel that I owe it to the old duffer to read all of his books that I can find as a thanks for Harry Flashman

Only one chapter in and I'm reminded of how much I love GMF's prose; Somewhat expectantly, the narrator of this tale of the Anglo-Scottish Border is a Portuguese Priest who was brought into the household of a Border Lord!
