A quick breezy read in between The Two Towers and Return Of The King, I felt Tom Bombadil's presence in The Fellowship Of The Ring was too brief and I needed more of his whimsical songs! Tolkien's poems, songs, and rhymes are so delightful, I could imagine them sung by Nick Drake.

I’ve finished the poems and I loved them so much, they were such a treat to read
This copy has a lot of Scull & Hammond commentary of all the poems which I’m now reading. Mostly language-based explanations and shows some earlier manuscripts, not the most engaging for me but I at least want to read the whole little book in full first time round

I LOVE IT THE STORIES IN THESE POEMS ARE SO WHIMSICAL AND FUN
And its attachment to the Red Book and place within the Middle-Earth canon just adds to a very fun read
A great choice to close my Tolkien read-through with this
