This is interesting but I think it’s far more academic than I was expecting. I’m going to dnf it because if I read the whole thing it’ll probably take all summer and I’m not enjoying it enough to stick with it.

Note: I’ve been reading with the audiobook, but I’m surprised to see that it skips 4 chapters. I understand it’s abridged but wow that’s so many!

This is really interesting so far! I really like how it’s been talking about the show and how it’s been influenced by politics, gender identity, religion, etc. I will say that the author does tend to go on tangents about real world events a little often, but other than it’s good.

So far it’s very interesting - but the first chapter being over 60 pages is crazy, it really could have been split up. And the ending of the second chapter pivoted to a topic that didn’t talk about Homer Simpson for at least 3 pages
