1. personal experience with ppl he (Steinbeck) knew
2. needless suffering in the midst of plenty
3. due to decisions by "greedy bastards who are responsible" for governing

Wow, I did see acquiescence as accessory to culpability, but hadn't seen silence that acquiescence as lying. Interesting, disturbing, and I think, correct.

Half way through chapter 4, Research. Gerard brings up the importance of seeing what other books in this same topic/subject have already been published.

I like how Philip has organized this book. It design to make you think again and evaluate what you're doing. Functional examples. It would be nice to find it digital.
