Comedian George Burns once said that it was "too bad that all the people who know how to run the country are all busy driving taxicabs and cutting hair." My ancestors would not have survived without the generosity of the Mi'kmaq during that long, cold winter, but homeless people today are left to die in the Canadian winter...Two centuries later, descendants of the generous Mi'kmaq can be seen huddling over vents in the middle of downtown sidewalks, vents that discharge excess steam from overheated buildings.
