still reading this btw. the part about the crimes is a tough read but i’m fully committed. have a bit of a history with DNFing chunky, sprawling epics when the going got rough but NOT THIS TIME!!

This is a long and sprawling book. I found the first half to be a bit difficult and not at all my taste, but the stories in the second half were compelling and vibrant. As much as I thought I was going to have to fight my way to end, it snuck up on me instead. If you choose to go for it, be ready to dig in for an intense read.

Thank god for good detectives because Estrella’s friends are dropping the ball.
