Status Updates From The Night Church

In around 1985 I read the first couple of chapters of the night Church. Reading it again from the start this evening for the first time, I am astonished at the thematic similarities between this work of fiction and streber's communion, published in 1987.

Inside the house nine thirty came and went. Letty Cochran sent little Jerry to bed. She and George settled back to watch the second half of the Garry Moore show.
"Mom?"
Frank Fontaine was starting to sing, "Maytime"; Letty had just closed her eyes. She sighed. "Why aren't you in bed, dear?"
"There's someone in the house."

Wow. I tried to read this before Communion came out, but gave it up as an outdated Satanic Rosemary's Baby stuff.

But The Night Church parallels the buried memories, nighttime menaces, and secret schools Strieber has written about in his nonfiction that started with Communion in 1987.
