Nora, girl, I’m saying this with nothing but love: once you’ve broken up with a guy, he’s free to date whomever he wants to—everyone is fair game! You can be angry and hurt over it all you want to, but he’s not doing anything immoral or unethical.

Hmmm…I do not like Vee—the FMC’s best friend—very much. She’s a decent enough friend in the first book, but in this way she’s just vacuous and…almost disloyal. Even taking her young age into consideration isn’t enough for me to be charitable.

Oh, poor Nora! She’s making such selfless and painful choices out of love for Patch, while pretending to be mean to him about it. How readers could hate her and call her “mean,” when the first-person POV leaves no room for misunderstandings, is beyond me. 😅 Like, she explicitly states why she does what she does, and readers are still like, “Why does she do that?”

Nora is an amazing character. I don’t throw around “internalized misogyny, but the hate readers have for Nora due to her 100% easily justifiable actions? They would’ve been more forgiving if it had been Patch. Yes, Nora says and does things that seem shortsighted on the surface, but this is told from first-person POV, so you’re in her head and learn in real-time her reasons, which are 100% strategic.
