At only chapter 3, the fmc expressed embarrassment of being from the south with a vague suggestion that people from the south are what? Dumb, racist, bigots? Not expressly stated but left open for an uncomfortable assumption of “worse.”
Feels a bit like alienation of this southern reader. I’ll have a hard time finishing this one.

When this title dropped in my Libby, I was not aware that it was strictly a YA book. I'm finding the FMC to be a snotty little child and her mother to be an emotionally immature role model.

I'm freakin strugglin. I loved the idea of this book. I'm hating the execution. At 50% and I don't really want to keep reading. It's creating such a depressing world. An afterlife of bureaucracy with no free will.

Someone please tell me it's worth foraging on....

I'm really struggling to read this one. Chapter one is about adolescence Blair finding her predestined adult mate. Very much giving ick vibes despite the constant reassurance of strictly platonic interest until Blair is a legal adult.
