Anna makes a man feel he’s the only one in the world.

“And her smile and her glance — all told him that it was to him only she was addressing her words, valuing his good opinion, and at the same time sure beforehand that they understood each other.”

Oh my god sending drunk telegraphs was a thing. We’ve always been the same.

“He knew that way she had of withdrawing into herself, and knew that it only happened when she had determined upon something without letting him know her plans.”

When Anna doesn’t want to talk about something, she shuts the conversation down completely.

Anna is aware of her life’s troubles, but deludes herself into inaction. Just when the reality of a situation gets close enough, she shuts down. It drives Vronsky, who is equally affected by the troubles but unable to shut himself off from them, completely mad.

Why do we have to keep mentioning that Vronsky is going bald lmao. Poor guy catching strays.

Anna vascillates between loving and despising Vronsky with no inbetween.

Anna displays intense fear of abandonment as she suspects Vronsky no longer loves her.

“At one time she would seem in love with him, and then she would become cold, irritable, and impenetrable.”

“He felt now that he was not simply close to her, but that he did not know where he ended and she began.”

Oh, you don’t say.
