My Kindle and I are racing down the Libby clock. An unpleasant slog. The construct is to bounce around three POVs where the action is minimal. When an act of violence happened around the 50% point. I couldn’t help but think - finally. Unpleasant, as the focus of the book, and one of POVs, is a narcissistic psychopath. I’m mostly sticking around to see his demise. I’m kind of hating the stupid women trope.

Well, I have just arrived at the first murder in Pundt portion of the book. I hope Susan Ryeland is savvy enough to recognize that the new author has borrowed librally from Agatha Christie’s CROOKED HOUSE. Otherwise I’m giving a pointed side-eye at Horowitz.

I get it now. I dread beginning a new fantasy series, and frankly have only entered new ones under duress in recent years. I struggle with the world building and all the unfamiliar proper nouns. Aside from Tess, this is my first Sanderson. I am impressed with his skill. He has sucked me into the world. Given me something to care about and has all my attention. Yay!

It may take up until the last moment before I need to give it back before I finish reading this. The emotional punch is almost too much to take. Each line is devastating.

This book is going to drown me in both beauty and sadness.

I’m rereading this book. Anymore, my memory stinks, but I’ve held enough facts from the first time to spot a few things. Glomming onto to clues before the reveal does not spoil this book at all. I would argue that this particular book was made to be reread. I would argue that books like this are why reading was invented.

Admittedly, I am not hardly into this, just my drive to work. I waited forever for this hold. The beginning of this book feels like every single cliché I’ve ever stumbled on in a romance, and my hopes are not high. I will stick it out because I want to see what the hype is about.

Now that I’ve definitely met all four women, I can only hope that there will be a character arc for all of them. I’m finding each pretty insufferable, in a fairly entitled way. I’m hoping, and trusting that is the author’s intentions.

I have long been intimidated by this book on my too read shelf. I rarely chose non-fiction: the history of man seemed very dry. The first book to get the Newbery award, I can now say I get it. Knowing that the Scoops trial occurred in the same decade, it must have been revolutionary in not bringing in Adam and Eve. It is very Euro centric “Our” ancestors come from Europe, while it “others” peoples of Africa.

For me, there are two types of satisfying reading experiences. One where I rush to the end because I can’t stand to wait to see what happens, and one where I’m enjoying the world and people so much I want to linger as long as I can. For this book it is the later. I enjoy these characters so much and the world Center has provided for them. I am in no rush.

This is the second book I’ve gotten from this author in my library. And the first time I realize it was written by Moss from the IT Crowd. Possibly my favorite sitcom character was awesome.

Holy Cow! I just figured something out about the baby. Ignore the page number, it happened while I was off page. I just wanted a record that I know who the baby is. Ugh, my husband wants to go out for a date. I am sneaking my Kindle along.

Whew! I was excited to revisit this book to meet the puzzle prompt in this year’s challenge. I just forgot how time consuming some of these puzzles are. I think I lost a whole night’s sleep back in the 90s when I first went through this. The Morse code page took so long. I think I need to take several days to get through it.
