This book is like no other. The closest a book can come to a song, I would say. Cohen comes to mind....

love it, love it. Every single word, every sentence in this book so far is Perfect.

still getting used to the style and language

This is a massive lesson of history - very beautifully written

this book is so confusing. I am for ever leafing back and forth to see the dates for the chapter. It takes away the pleasure of reading.

this book is so thick and heavy, the only way reading it is having sitting it on the table. No way I could hold it in my hands ....
but it is interesting, seeing Philip II from a different point. The writer has a very favorable opinion of him - in contrary to the populist literature about him.

I am hard pressed to decide - should I be reading this gloomy book in the morning to spoil my day, or in the evening to hunt my dreams?

My book has 566 pages.
Hard reading so far. The political and social upheavals of the fictional republic area tiring read. Sad, that you cannot put it aside as a 'last century conflicts', because it is happening all over again and again. Will we never learn?
