This book further confirms my suspicion (and Bowdens) that the American south had, underneath the covers, a grand and ancient classicism that has now been obscured.
This book is fantastic and has stunned me by it's weight of writing and depth of thinking.

At page 100 the book has picked up and is now speaking of a unspoken revolution that occcured where the king became merely an officiating priest and the pontifex grew beyond the rex's power. Many echoes and comparison to be made with "the ancient city" by Coulanges. Dumezil does not understand the high-low vs middle aspect of revolutions but his religious mythic understanding is great, enjoyable so far.

So far a huge disappointment. Glad I only spent 20$ on this two volume set. He obviously resembles a Christian when he speaks of the barbarity and the lack of any morals in the old myths. He says that the pagans are fumbling around with mistaken words and the illusions of the world and nature. Ancient myth just hasn't reached the true faith of the one holy reality. His comparitive analysis is good, though it's rare.

"being master out beyond oneself is always also an annihilation."
Pg. 63

Ok heidy you win, I'll tackle your Being and Time.
Between us two, who shall come out the victor? Who shall be annihilated?

Very enjoyable so far. Nietzsche gives Heidegger a more viral and masculine edge then he usually has. You know, his receptive womb of being where he says "Hey you! Get out of the way Being is coming!"
Am I misinterpreting him? Probably. I would recommend this so far.

The model given by this book to analysis and understand the central power structure hiding behind lgtb, anarchists, and democratic voters has been truly enlightening for me. The historical analysis of Greek centralizing (especially during it's "democratic" phase) has also been enthralling.
This book is useful for my thinking along the lines of Indo-European tripartite or sometimes 4-class catagorizing of society.

So far Lewis has taken gutteral thrusts at the "common man" while emphasising the importance of a ruler along with the desire to be ruled by the former. He has bruised up well that democratic whore and her fancy towards the liberty of having all but using none. (Such as with free movement of peoples) Freedom demands suffering and overcoming, the American version is but a shortcut substituted by outward dependence.
