At page 100 the book has picked up and is now speaking of a unspoken revolution that occcured where the king became merely an officiating priest and the pontifex grew beyond the rex's power. Many echoes and comparison to be made with "the ancient city" by Coulanges. Dumezil does not understand the high-low vs middle aspect of revolutions but his religious mythic understanding is great, enjoyable so far.
