Harriet's right. She may be kind of a weird little kid (though, I mean, her best friend wants to blow up the world), but she basically had her diary stolen and read to the class. It WAS a privacy violation. Don't invade someone's privacy then blame them when you don't like what you find.

This is honestly kind of dull and I'm really over books set in kinda maybe fantasy 20s-50s Britain but with only like two hours left I feel silly making it a DNF

I think I *may* have made it 15% of the way into this book. Then an attorney calls the small-town mayor's office (where the mayor's daughter is involved in an elaborate ruse to do his job without anyone knowing he's out of town) to inform him that land donated by way back when should actually be owned by a real estate developer claiming to be the rightful heir.

Listen, I can only suspend disbelief so much.

I was gonna try to make it to 50% but, honestly, I'm bored. May give it another shot next year.

The conflict is ridiculous and there are massive inconsistencies that make it difficult to read, but I'll probably finish this just because there's only like an hour left. Definitely not a recommended read though.

Two main issues with this book so far: clearly this author has zero knowledge of tech start-ups. Also, the central "conflict" is paper thin. Moving back to her hometown and working with the hot high school bestie turned multi-millionaire is the most obvious solution possible to FMC's problems. The only thing keeping it from happening is her.

I don't think I actually made it 5% into this book because, dear god. It's like watching paint dry.

Wow. Every last one of the books in this series seems to be complete shit. I don't know how the first one was somehow the best, but this is the second in a row I haven't been able to bring myself to finish.

This is really fucking boring and repetitive and also everyone in this book is a moron. Except the 8 year old. Because she's 8.

This really is quite slow. Also there are many contradictions. The vibes are there, but I just keep being thrown out of the story because things make zero fucking sense.

There is a detailed description of a condo with a giant cockroach infestation. Nope. No. Cannot. Do not need this in my life. I am going to be having nightmares for weeks.

This is prettily written, though slow. Definitely feels like it started as Harry/Hermione fanfic and the writer didn't catch all the ways she needed to pivot, though. Like. They're acting like Tate's been gone for ages during key developmental periods when it's been two years and they're now 30. Not a whole lot changes between 28 and 30.

Also, like, I'm really over this thing where neurodivergent men get passes for their behaviour while neurodivergent women have to adapt. An autistic woman would never get away with behaving the way August does. She just wouldn't. She'd have been trained out of it before she hit her late teens, likely before she hit puberty.

There's autistic and then there's being an asshole and August is definitely into asshole territory. Like, the things the people in town are cranky about are petty and stupid, but the way he talks to Wren is straight up mean even if you're generous and assume neutral intent.

The only way any part of this makes sense is if it's all pastiche. I'm hoping it's pastiche. Refusing to look up anything at all about it until I'm done because it's way too easy to say 'fuck this' that way

This is all over the place and not especially well-written, but if things don't go wildly off the rails it'll probably avoid a 1-star rating simply for Josh being kind of adorably nerdy

The pretension is killing me. I expected it, but did not grasp the extent. Like going to Amsterdam and being hit by the sheer number of bikes. You know about it, you think you've understood it from pictures and descriptions, but it's so outside your experience that you're never really prepared for that first wave of rubber and aluminium.
