I totally didn't expect Milli Hill to divulge into race politics within UPF food marketing, this is sooo well researched and there's mention of orthorexia which food companies will totally use to its advantage to promote UPF foods preventing people from 'suffering from eating too healthy'

really loving this, I'm connecting with it far more than Chris van Tulleken's Ultra Processed People, but I'm also enjoying how this is a complimentary addition to it, as Hill has started that reading Tulleken's work inspired her and she has referenced his findings thoughout

Lost some motivation to read this, but it's super engaging, despite how the author writes women

I was reading this on my work break last night, where I was sat in the cold in the doorway around the back of a wedding whilst a cat stole my water and Mambo No.5 and Livin' La Vida Loca where blasted back to back in the mainspace, which I can't help but think probably wasn't the ambience the author would have intended for this

bits of this really remind me of Coraline, although they may just be common tropes
eg being unable to escape/ ending up back where she started and the strange lil corn doll following her around
