I'm probably reading way too much into this but I always felt like the blue earring was/is a symbol of Burrich's love for Chivalry. Romantic or not literally doesn't matter, but there's no denying that they loved each other, you dont leave your only son to a man you hate. And now Fitz has it. So Burrich asking Fitz to keep it is imo his last "I love you" to Fitz before they leave each other's side

I'm a little bothered by the simplicity of the writing...
I would have thought that a premise like this one required purple prose or would have at least benefited from it. Dark academia is pretentious, might as well lean into the style.

Do I have other books to read? Yes. Will I be rereading this for the fourth time? Also yes. Becauae I can. I dont know why I gave it 4 stars last time when this book is my roman empire.

Reading this book made me understand that I'll n e v e r be ready for A Little Life. I got some happiness for a few chapters and I'm still destroyed

I was a bit thrown off by Dexter's sudden 180, but the thing is that its not a retcon but rather a change in mindset. Dexter is a profoundly unreliable narrator. Even though his relationship with Milly seems to come out of nowhere, going back to read the first half of the book shows a chemistry that was always there but that Dexter consciously chose to dampen. He just needed a little push to admit it. This boooooook!
