This book is really excellent. It is a very niche thing, and it is very well done, by a couple of passionate and somewhat maniacal collectors and researchers.

There are excellent photographs (black-and-white) throughout, illustrating various representative styles, with discussions of the various features, functions, dates, locations, markings, and commonalities among different styles and makers.

Good. Read a lot of this about a year ago, just before the pandemic began, then it sort of fell to the wayside as I was focused on building out my shop space. Now I'm starting to get back into it.

Good so far. I am enjoying his writing style, and the bits of parenthetical commentary that run along through his prose. 😄

Good so far. Well illustrated with clear photos and explanations, but also not afraid to get into and describe all the technical nitty-gritty, point out things to be watchful for, etc.

Interesting, so far. Don't know much about the characters yet, but I like his use of descriptive language in the writing.

Fantastic, inspiring, and mind-bending. This book has started me down the path of several fermentations, and I have made lacto fermented plums, several batches of my best sauerkraut ever, and both regular and mango kombucha, the latter of which has surprisingly complex and delightful flavors.

I highly recommend this book. Get it! 👍🤓

Excellent. Slow going at times, and I go through bursts of reading, then put it down for months, but it keeps calling me back to it.

A fascinating read. Highly recommended!
