I don’t find myself liking this one very much….

The part of learning how to track time with their heartbeats was so cool.

You can see why she keeps denying her abuse and it breaks your heart.

Seeing how Vanessa defends her abuser is really hard to read but I can see where she is coming from, and this is oftentimes the reality of a lot of a victims

I was not expecting this book to take this turn so early on but it explains Vanessa’s hesitancy to come forward now as an adult. It’s heartbreaking.

Certain scenes can be hard to swallow but I appreciate it the author not hiding away from them.

I really enjoy it when the audiobook for a memoir is read by the writer themselves. It adds to the storytelling aspect of it.

It’s sad to see how even when someone actively knows they are in a cult there is nothing they can do to get out of it and when they do try, they once again get taken advantage of

My new co-worker and I were talking about books which then led to us discussing the trad wife-to-cult pipeline and this case popped up! I was so tickled lol She told me there was a documentary so I’ll be watching it too

Now that my commute to work is 30+ mins I need to get back into audiobooks and this one is perfect so far~

Still trying to piece together what is the whole deal with Sila’s dad or whatever. It has given us much to work with.

Still not sure where this is going plot-wise but something is cooking and I hope I am not disappointed

Very nice twist on concept of vampires somehow? At least from the little we know so far, but I really like.

Only now has it become clear to me this takes place in the 1890s… nothing about it gave that impression the first 150 pages or so. And now that it’s been explicitly mentioned, even the speech of the characters have changed. It feels as if the author made the decision suddenly with it revising the beginning.

Oh this book is actually quite hot… and none of that cringe-ness I see often from ‘darker’ romance.

I love there is a dual POV. Most of the time I do not enjoy them but this one is very entertaining

The othering of Heathcliff due to him not being white is so heavy in the book is shocks me adaptations ignore it so much?
