Seeing how Vanessa defends her abuser is really hard to read but I can see where she is coming from, and this is oftentimes the reality of a lot of a victims

I was not expecting this book to take this turn so early on but it explains Vanessa’s hesitancy to come forward now as an adult. It’s heartbreaking.

Certain scenes can be hard to swallow but I appreciate it the author not hiding away from them.
