Kelly Francis Mackey. Five-ten, twenty-seven—same age as me. I snort. What kind of parents name their son Kelly Francis? Sounds like they wanted him to get his ass kicked in school.

Maybe if he stays here long enough, his physical form will cease to exist. Maybe he can cease to exist. Not that Andrew wants to die, far from it, just sometimes being a person feels like too much work. Sometimes, he wants to be washed away down the drain or swept away with the tide, to just float into nothingness for a while, where no one needs or expects anything from him.

Found my softie. Sweeping my palm along his hip and back, I whisper against the top of his head, “Mine,” and the small hum that leaves Rowan’s throat in response sure doesn’t sound like an objection.
