not enjoying how much of this i can relate to, but on the other hand that’s why im reading it

a bit too rambly for me so far. i want him to just focus on a single topic in a chapter but he just veers off onto other things and collectively that makes each chapter feel kind of muddled and aimless

i’m accepting that that’s just Kenan’s style but it’s not a very entertaining or engaging listen

enjoyable read so far, mostly listening to the audiobook. the narrative seems to rush through his earlier life like it’s anxious to reach his presidency. things feel kind of brief. but when the author does to a deep dive, it’s properly engaging. we see nuanced portraits of Nixon, his family, his friends, and associates.

currently at the beginning of the second part, when his presidency begins.
