What an interesting read!

I just figured out what this book is doing and it's *great*!

It's good, but it doesn't seem to connect at all to The Giver beyond the shared society.

So moody and creepy! I feel so bad for Ivander!

This is a very enjoyable historical fiction novel that empowers girls and women in a time when girls and women had very little power. The pace and narrative voice are addicting, and the audiobook narrator does a great job. It's a little sweet, though; seriously, this time in history was very hard on women and girls, and I don't think this narrative makes space for that.

Great writing, but slow.

Glad I found my way with this one! Such a dynamic style and I had to get used to it.
