Caitlin is on page 119 of 240 of Raising Kids and Teens with FASD
The book continues to offer solid examples to back up strategies. It continues to re-reference the same techniques creating building blocks. It may feel funny to some at first however-hint hint-may be apart of the strategies available.

My head is swimming a bit in the amount of literal description of everything. It does truly however give the main character a voice.

I continue to enjoy the book with tangible and direct examples. I know this is a shorter read so I attempt to take it slow and take the information in. Hoping for a little more information geared to support those considered with a more profound level diagnosis.

As someone who works in the field and seen and assisted others to experience a variety of interventions, the straightforward presentation of information is refreshing. Real given examples of areas to try ties up background information nicely.

The pacing is done well. Follows some formula but with the characters known over so many books, it remains enjoyable and a quick read.

Continues to be enjoyable as new characters come in. I watched the movie prior so it has been interesting connecting the changes and possible whys.

Enjoying it immensely. The first person voice tracks well with my own thoughts. Having seen the movie first had made the narrator voice stand out strongly.

Still waiting for the first introductory to join the current grouping. Enjoying it; nostalgic of the first but good in its own right.

First to point out to anyone reading through these, the book scans much larger than it is (only has 213pgs). That being said halfway through is when it starts giving more specific examples as to the conditions people lived in. Reading just a letter justifying the need for a single piece of equipment not being funded for years is saddening. The fight for funding is far from over in current services sectors but wow.

1975. That’s when sterilization was more limited. It took a war to show that people have worth to prove. Sadly, the focus was on utility. Sometimes the recognition of need to change comes from an undesired area or event. I guess at least it provides some kind of catalyst.

Well Minnesota, now I know a little more. It isn’t necessarily shocking at an unknown. But it’s laid out, how it came, how it went and long long it was still encouraged. It’s also interesting to see where it went and adjusted before finally closing its doors publicly.

What I’ve enjoyed is seeing where good intentions can lead when you aren’t questioning. How an idea that starts off as plausible and needed turns into something of a shadow of itself pretending the be the true version.

The amount of openings, closings and transfers is almost overwhelming to start with. Some of the missions are interesting and honestly don’t sound far away from the goals now.
