Great read. Exciting adventures. Kinda sad how dumb the Portuguese were at first with their religious bigotry. They showed up to a place where everyone coexisted peacefully without concern for religion. And then discriminated and distrusted Muslims in an over the top way. Like Borat against the Jews. Ridiculous. But in this case violent. And sad. I keep saying to the Portuguese “just chill out!”

Still a tough read but damn Nabokov is an incredible writer. I wish he didn’t write about such a disturbing subject. And pale fire was good but all the hidden stuff got super annoying.

I don’t know if I can do this man. It’s rough. Roaming around inside the mind of a pedophile. Ick.

Good. Right balance of numbers and storyline. Battles and political intrigue.

Incredible that the Sacklets haven’t been torn apart by a mob.

So far so good. Prose isn’t as flowery and beautiful as Suttree and The Border Trilogy but it is engaging. Like No Country for Old Men. Story is good though. Moving along.

Really incredible and detailed look at the history of Putin and the people in his orbit. I finally understand why he invaded Ukraine this spring.

Love it. It’s Mike Duncan at his best. Consistently paced interesting solid prose.
