Classic children’s story beginning to start with the main character’s parents dying in a tragic way 👍

This book is literally evil. The writing style treats me like I have 0 brain cells, the characters are trash and treat each other like trash, it glorifies capitalism, it’s an egotistical, embarrassing, cringey self-insert fantasy, it’s fake deep brainrot reflections about love make me nauseous, the plot is mind-numbing and pointless. Like I said an evil, evil book. But people love it, which I find interesting.

Lydgate’s pissing me off. Just cause his first girlfriend was a murderer he thinks every woman is vicious and evil. I don’t like his and Rosamond’s dynamic on either side at all, it’s like the Victorian equivalent of a toxic relationship except in the modern day they’d just break up not get freaking married

speed running reading this book is no joke I feel 40 years older

btw I aspire to be as delusional as Mr. Brooke thinking everyone loves him everywhere he goes

All the town politics and clerical stuff is going right over my head, I’m only paying attention when Fred and Mary are in a scene together or Dodo and Will. Mary’s obviously the best character so actually just anything she’s in is great. I can not stand any of the men ugh 🤢 Maybe Will but even he’s pissing me off cause he only likes Dodo because she’s unavailable, that’s so cringe

This book feels like an 8 season tv show and I’m only on season 3 😮‍💨
