So far, the plot seems too predictable. I don't enjoy the lack of surprise.

So far, I love his sense of humor and authentic writing style. And the discover-with-the-MC POV approach is gripping.

Tidbit: Quantum theory allows energy density to be negative (like a bank overdraft) because it's based on Heisenberg's "uncertainty principle" (which says that the speed and position of a particle cannot both be well-defined; we cannot know both at the same time).

The humble, vulnerable, and heart-touching introduction by the author was the perfect beginning to this book. It beautifully conveys the very real fragility of the human condition, and helps the reader feel more connected to the author's plight.
I appreciate the illustrative descriptions of theories, but much of the text is still far above my head!
