Only about a third left and so far this is a high recommend!

It's a cute book. It's a really cute book. There are some similarities to Howl's moving Castle but not so much as to be wholly distracting. They're more like a shared cultural story. A touchstone adding familiarity to a story that already feels like a warm cup of cocoa and, if you'll forgive the pointedness, a cat curled up on your lap.

So far, it's a pretty good read. The world building is small but immediate. The title says there's going to be a mystical cat shelter, but right now there is just a cat shelter with some tendrils of mystic energy in the neighborhood. It's a good reminder that the fantastical elements of your story don't have to hit your readers in the face.

It's interesting to reread this as an adult. It's not at all how I remember it. Well, I guess parts of it are, but there's a lot MORE than I remember. I guess that is more accurate.

It definitely feels like fantasy...but sometimes I feel like it's trying to subtly convert me to Christianity. However, that's only because I know the Bible stories.
