The first one's a breeze,
but then I'm easy to please,
just give me a murderous clone
and I'm all too quick in the zone.

Too good by far

Finally back to this one, after reading the first two chapters last autumn and getting distracted by schoolwork! An intriguing sci-fi work; loss, fury, a thirst for revenge--it can't but go swimmingly.

Completed the first of the three parts, or novellas, that make up the greater whole of A Canticle for Leibowitz and woosh, that close, what a killer.

This is a great book both as popular science and as the biography of Doudna.

I've so adored spending time in this fantastic take on Chinese history - just a little ways to go!

This book is not easy to read through, not like the previous two of Murakami's I read. But it is riveting.

It's good to be back with Yaz and co. The previous book was only told through Yaz's perspective, if I recall correctly - nice change of pace, having this one broken into several points of view.

Magical so far.

Bloody hell, this is masterfully told sci-fi.

Toril Moi's essay is excellent, and a little sneaky. Under the guise of "Rethinking Character," Moi asks, "What should academic literary criticism be?" It's a good question for anyone who seeks a path defined by something other than the formalist practices the field is known for.

A quarter done and I'm in the grip of it!

Well and truly into the Court of Broken Knives now--and I find I'm hooked! Exciting, violent, full of fire and murder, magic and dragons and a schizophrenic protagonist I enjoy and fear in equal measure.

God dammit, as if I didn't have enough to do, now I have to watch everything David Lynch has ever done (except for Dune because I'm not THAT masochistic)

Ah, Murderbot, how I've missed thee...for like a week. Addictive read.

Max Hastings' lucid account of the last year of the Pacific front makes for fascinating and colourful listening. How many years went into researching this brilliant piece of historical non-fiction?
It's a commitment--good history books often are. Well worth it, though.
