I'm loving this book so far. Usually the romantic male lead is dark and broody or a masculine god with chiseled looks. If he is maimed or scarred it's for a beauty and the beast trope. I love that Marcel is plain and clumsy. It's different and refreshing. Neither Marcel nor Gabriella are perfect and I like that they have flaws.

Thank you!! I am so excited for a tall female main character with large hips and shoulders who stands taller than mostly everyone. As a woman just shy of 6'2 I feel seen finally in a world filled with short and petite MC's. I'm already in love with this book.

I enjoy that people who spent their whole life living in the sea have it affect their language with phrases like you sea slug or slow your tsunami. Also I've never seen someone with a feeding tube be represented in fantasy so it's cool to see the inclusion.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I think I'll enjoy the romance, but I have a hard time believing the king's response to his older daughter physically abusing his younger daughter. On one hand he thinks it's serious enough to send Iona away and hide her, yet he doesn't believe the threats she makes against Iona? I hope they share a reason why the parents allow the abuse and she doesn't think they are awful.

I love that India doesn't do what I expect. I expect her to do what every other proper young English woman does in a regency/victorian era book, but India delights and surprises. Too many spinsters are labeled witty and brazen, but India actually delivers.

This series is absurdly good. It's like a tapestry. So many interwoven parts, with growing intricacies. Changing characters, stakes getting higher, and the mysteries of the world getting deeper.

This series is a roller coaster! Everyone has layers and there's more to them than meets the eye. Characters I liked have turned and characters I didn't like have grown on me. Lots of surprises.

I was intrigued by the story from the very beginning, but I thought it would be a fairly straightforward story of going off on an adventure to save the fair maiden. I'm glad I was wrong. It's twisty and I love that there's so many layers and things yet to be revealed.

Political maneuvering, middle eastern inspired culture, strong female MC, and laugh out loud funny, this book just keeps getting better.

I don't normally binge a book in a day, but I might stay up irresponsibly late just so I can find out what happens. Ah so much is happening!

Ok I know it's ridiculous to post an update so early, but do you ever read a book and know right away you're going to love it and it'll be a fun ride? Well that's how I feel about this book. I'm excited to curl up and read this book nonstop once I can get silly adult responsibilities out of the way.

I can't wait to finish this book but at the same time it's so good I don't want it to end! I love Kit and Bella's relationship and how much trust they have. They've truly helped each other heal.

Even with the darker themes of past trauma, I'm really enjoying the book. I love the found family and I can see I am going to really like the redemption and healing in this book.

I've had this book for a few months, picked it up randomly, and decided I wanted to clear out some of the books filling up my Kindle library. I didn't expect much, but oh man is it good! It's one of those books that fully immerses you and you can't stop thinking about it during the day. I'm instantly curious and invested. I'm loving it so far.

I love that she's street smart and that she can hold her own with the boys. She reminds me a lot of Captain Marvel. I've never read a book where the MC had OCD and I love the representation.

Interesting parallel world and magic, I love it anytime the book focuses on that but we also have Sara from our world. Good grief I can't stand her. She's an immature selfish mess, and perhaps that's supposed to garner sympathy but she's so off putting. I can't tell if she's pretentious or that socially awkward or both. Hopefully a lot of character growth is coming. I'll read the other chapters though and skim hers.
