I’m in the mood for a literary fiction. Saw this book sitting forgotten on my shelf and thought I’d give it a try.

I wish everyone were as kind and forgiving as the villagers on this island. The world would be a better place.

I’m impressed to see a a FMC correctly disarm a gunman, and then proceed to shoot him point blank in the face and kill him in a YA book. I feel like a lot of authors these days pull their punches, but not here.

This book is so cute and I really like it so far.

I ended up reading a lot while standing in line at an event tonight.
This series is fun but nothing special. I’m glad I’m reading it since I’ve owned it for nearly 15 years, and I’m enjoying it enough to finish it, but it’s not something I would reread.

I’ve been feeling like I should read some C.S. Lewis, and I think I need to take a break from fiction for a moment, so that’s how I got here.

I have been skipping every sex scene in this book because I don’t care to read them, and currently we are on #8, or maybe #9, I have lost count. Why are there so many? 1 or 2 would have been sufficient. 😵‍💫

I’m honestly just feeling meh about this series now. I liked the first two books alright but maybe I should have stopped after that. This duology isn’t bad, per se, but it just feels like generic romantasy, nothing new.

First 20-or-so percent was rough but it’s finally starting to get interesting.

I’ve owned this book for fifteen years. I’m finally going to read it.

In honor of Nancy Drew entering the public domain this year, a couple friends and I are reading this book together. I’ve never read any Nancy Drew books before so this will be my first one!

This book did not need a sex scene and it really turned me off from finishing this series. I was on the fence but now I don’t want to. There is no romance in this book so far so where did that scene come from? I wish it hadn’t been included in the story.

Wow. Chapter 41 really just killed the whole story. Why was that included? And why when he’s half unconscious? I just…. I wouldn’t be surprised if that chapter alone was responsible for the low average rating.

DNF at 69%. :(

I haven’t been reading too much lately. Work has been busy and I’ve been very sleepy in the evenings. Hoping to finish this tomorrow though. So far it’s not as good as the first book.

I’m so disappointed that this book is not off to a good start. I loved the author’s debut so I was very excited for her sophomore novel, but it’s rather vulgar so far and I’m slowly losing interest. :(

The story has been really promising so far, but then something happened in the last chapter that makes me nervous for the rest of the book. The romance is taking over the plot and I’m hoping that doesn’t continue for the next 150+ pages.

Woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t sleep so decided to read a random short story on my Kindle and this was the first one I saw.

This is pitched as a Pride and Prejudice retelling but it’s not? Also I think maybe I just don’t like reading about fae.

I’ve spent all day reading this with my cat by the fire and it has been really delightful.

Absolutely loving this so far, as I expected.

I wasn’t feeling anything on my immediate TBR list so I decided to pick up an older book by a favorite author. Kate’s books are perfect for a cozy winter day indoors by the fire.

I’m obsessed with this cover. I hope the book is as good as the cover.

This might be my favorite horror by T. Kingfisher. I’ll have to wait to see how it ends.

The main character is really quite unlikeable. It’s been a long time since I read about such an unlikeable protagonist. I can’t tell if it’s just her I don’t like, or if it’s the book I don’t like.

Also this book has no chapters, just one big collection of text.

Currently obsessed. Adrienne Young girlies would love this.

So far these stories are pretty okay. Not great but also not bad.

I don’t know how to feel about this series. It’s good, but also just…kind of strange.

Rereading this book before reading the final Bridge Kingdom book because The Twisted Throne is genuinely so excellent and the political intrigue is top notch and I love it so much.
