You do know that Asato Asato won the grand prize for one of the most challenging and prestigious light novel in all of Japan and a quite hefty sum of prize money for These novels right? She's one hell of a writer. Especially for someone who's only dipped her toes into this space.

The hints of Shin and Lena's soon to be relationship are just so sweet. reminds me of why I don't read dark romance. Can't wait for volume 9. Almost done. I made a change. I listen to the Audiobooks when I have to go on some sort of drive

For example, Rent a Girlfriend, Yes, Problematic. Indeed. Still, Not as problematic as your Average Colleen Hoover Book.

and when I say that what I mean is that Anime can be somewhat toxic but it's toxicity has nothing on a Novel like Haunting Adeleine. Compared to that, even some of the most Toxic of Toxic Animes have NOTHING like if there were a Scale of Toxcitiy the world of NOVELS is just getting worse and worse. Meanwhile, Anime toxicity depends on what you're watching and is nowhere near as toxic.

Like I said, I'm not accustomed to getting my Fix of Romance from the Literary world. The animes I watch and stuff for it, even if they aren't PERFECT even if there isn't a complete and total lack of toxicity, it's the relative nature of things that sent me fleeing for sanctuary. I was so tired of men like Edward Cullen, controlling as fuck. Abusive.

Further, the women writing the shitty books that BookTok is promoting barely seem to understand that abuse isn't defined merely as Physical Abuse. It's as though unless he's beating her, she's not being abused, but that isn't true at all.

One feminist to another, I very strongly disagree with Jezebel's article saying the whole problem with Booktok is the Algorithm, not the Books they're recommending. It's both. The shit they've been peddling is all the most TOXIC romances possible. Forget "Taboo" You can be taboo as fuck without having to explore and put women in every conceivable type of abusive relationship.

The thoughts come later...agghh... I'm one of those people who reads something like this and then later starts to digest the information internally. 24 ounces of semen is a lot. Excessive. lol...agh. I've hated Booktok since it's inception, maybe though, just maybe now that i've read this one i'll find a nice corner of it.

For the record, as long as I exist, I am a colleen hoover hater. I think Colleen Hoover has some serious Internalized misogyny, and it's completely unexamined.

While I love romance, I don't usually GET my romance b y way of the literary world owing to the trends in recent years. I would go for it by way of Movies or Anime and Those cringing it's like Shoujo Romances are awesome. I'm 30 episodes deep into Nana and considering the Manga. But Twilight and then 50 shades of gray and then Colleen hoovers popularity have taught me to AVOID literary romance.

I hate dark romance. When I Read that, I think hrm, romance in a dark setting? A dark fantasy world? But nope. It's all just toxic, abusive relationships. I hate that bullshit. I read a romance to escape. Not to explore painful experiences.
